About the event
When USA President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden reignited the Cancer Moonshot (highlighted by the Lancet as Cancer Moonshot 2.0), they set ambitious, achievable goals: to reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50% over the next 25 years, and improve the experience of people and families living with and surviving cancer, ultimately ending cancer as we know it today. They called for everyone to do their part including federal agencies and departments, academic institutions, private companies, health care providers, patient groups, philanthropies, and more. While the immediate goals are domestic, the ambitions of the Cancer Moonshot extend far beyond the borders of the United States, especially as the burden of cancer falls heavily to lower- and middle-income countries, where 80% of global cancer deaths occur. International work as part of the Cancer Moonshot is focused on equity and collaboration, thereby increasing access to prevention, screening, treatment, and care for everyone facing a cancer diagnosis and their families around the world.
In December 2022, the Cancer Moonshot announced New Actions Aimed to Reduce the Cancer Burden in Africa as Part of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit.  This has been followed by other actions  extending the Cancer Moonshot to India.  The USA Cancer Moonshot 2.0 Lancet Oncology Commission also includes South America. The Cancer Moonshot 2.0 Summit at Harvard/MIT will celebrate progress on this and other actions as well as 10 Years of high impact collaborations catalyzed by the GHC.  Please save the Date Jube 5-8, 2025.  Registration will open  by  September 15, 2024. All are welcome!
